The Reese Widman Memorial, sponsored by Ram Restaurants, is next week!

Thank you for being a part of the Reese Widman Memorial Tournament: Stike Out the Stigma. This baseball tournament is in memory of our son, Reese Widman. Reese was a competitive, talented baseball player who played for New Level, Steilacoom High School, Patriot Athletic League, and Lakewood Baseball Club. Reese was also committed to play baseball at Pierce College. Reese love this game and all of his teammates. Baseball has proven to be more of a family than just a sport.

Reese silently struggled with his mental health and died by suicide on January 7, 2023. He left behind a message to his friends, “Do what I couldn’t do; Get help.” He left us with instructions to help others. We are taking Reese’s message and sharing it to help others in our community. We need allow space to reach out when we are struggling, normalize the discussion of mental health, and let people know that’s it ok to not be ok and to reach out. This message is increasingly important to our young athletes.

We are here to remember Reese and his love for baseball. We also want to erase the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide. This can start with you as a coach.

Thank you for you for your support. Now go STRIKE OUT THE STIGMA!

Respectfully,

Corey and Kelly Widman
